The Bridge Community Church
A Gospel-centered, mission focused faith community.
The Bridge is unashamedly a Christian church, meaning simply that we live, teach, and follow in the way of Jesus Christ. At the center of it all is a person. Jesus.
Our teaching and mission stem from who Jesus was and what he did. This culminates in what we call the gospel: the riches of the grace of God available because of the sacrificial death of Jesus for sinners.
Jesus is the only bridge to eternal life.
Our Three Avenues
1) Gospel (Believe)
The Gospel is the engine that propels our mission
The Gospel is the primary lens to view the world, people, and things in it
The Gospel is the central message we are called to teach.
2) Community (Grow)
Our church is more than a meeting, it is a network of relationships.
We will gather and scatter in community.
a) We Gather on Sunday mornings for Word and Worship
b) We Scatter into our neighborhoods on Mission as the church
3) Mission (Send)
We are sent as a missionary people, individually and collectively.
Being a missional Christian is simply following the way of Jesus. Jesus Christ was the first and greatest missionary. The Bible tells us that He came from heaven to earth to die for a lost and dying world.
We realize that Jesus sees himself not only as one sent but also as one who is sending: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21).
Get Involved:
1) Attend at Leadington or Arnold
2) Serve the body of Christ
3) Join a Missional Cell
What is a Missional Cell Family?
They are small groups of people, joined by the Gospel, pursuing the renewal and redemption of their community together.
A missional cell family is not JUST a small group, Bible study, support group, social activist group, or a weekly meeting. It can involve these sorts of things, but it doesn’t stop there.
Our missional cell families worship God, live in community, get trained for ministry, and make disciples together… over time. Being involved in missional community is critical to being the church rather than simply attending church

The Bridge Community Church is a part of the Acts 29 Network.

In our preschool suite we offer nursery, toddler, beginner and preschool classes. Children enjoy praise and worship, Bible story time, and classroom time where the learning is hands-on!
UPTOWN is 5,000 square feet of totally cool space (according to kids) for children in grades K-5. Meeting at both 9:00 & 10:45, Uptown is located on the second and third floors.
Our BK staff LOVES kids and our goal is to support parents in teaching kids that they too can choose to follow God. This is far more than just Sunday School. We want our children to understand what being Gospel-centered and missional looks like and have a quality understanding of the Bible by the time they move on to middle school. Bridge Kids’ large group sessions are high tech and high energy with great Biblical lessons. Every week is like Vacation Bible School – Awesome! After praise & worship and the Bible story presentation in large group the children split up into their age appropriate cell families, just like the adults and youth, where they learn to apply the Bible teaching to their everyday lives. On the 1st Sunday of each month at 10:15, we have Family Worship Time where parents come and worship with their children and learn all about what they are studying inBridge Kids.

Together we —
Share life and truth.
We are more than a meeting; we are a community that shares life throughout the week: meals, trials, vacation, mission, etc. We are imperfect but are united by the perfecting truth of the gospel of grace.
Pray for one another and St. Francois County
We pray regularly for one another, our neighbors, and our county because we know that it is ultimately God who renews the county.
Engage peoples and cultures.
Our missional cells engage the cultures of our surrounding context with genuine interest, love, and the hope of redemption.
Love one another.
We are bound together by mutual love and encouragement. We’re a family.
Why do we do this?
Gospel principles that guide missional cell.
We are all broken.
We are all more broken than we want to admit, and God is more holy than we comprehend.
We all need Jesus.
In Jesus we are more forgiven and accepted than we can imagine, and God is more delighted in us than we understand.
We all need one another.
We need each other to share our struggles and joys in following Jesus.
Our county needs the Gospel.
The gospel of Christ changes and renews the peoples and cultures of the county.

IDENTITY is a church-wide campaign designed to deeply teach out what the church, the body of Christ (in our case The Bridge) is all about. This will be our focus for six weeks in celebration services and we are asking that ALL cells suspend whatever study they may be doing to engage the curriculum that The Bridge pastors are currently writing. So, during the week following each message, make plans to use the curriculum in your cell. We are also working on a 15 minute intro video for each teaching week. There will be a week that every missional cell family engages in service and also a week when they will throw a party, so if you make plans early we can give you tons of help promoting.
VBS Family Nites are open to everyone and will be fun for all ages!
A quick dinner will be served each night promptly at 5:45. Then, families will worship together with live music. Each night will feature a different Bible story about Daniel with a live skit. Games and crafts come next as we learn how we can apply the Bible story to our everyday lives. We will all stay together for all week 1, but for weeks 2 and 3, if your children are old enough to participate without your help, parents are invited to meet with The Bridge lead pastor, Tim Gray, in the next room after the Bible story for parenting tips on “How to Effectively Parent in a Defective World”.
We hope you can join us for all 3 of these fun filled nites! Can’t make it to all 3? Not a problem…join us for any of the 3 and you are sure to have a great time.
When Jesus said “follow me” He knew something that most of us do not realize. He knew that we are all followers.
In fact, it’s not really a question of if we follow, but more of a question of what or whom we follow.
So, do you follow him? No, I mean do you really follow him? Are you willing to now?
Join us this Sunday as we begin a new section in the gospel of Mark and look to the implications of Jesus’ invitation to, “Follow Me.”

Join us as we read through the Bible TOGETHER in 2012. We have partnered with ESV.org to use the ESV Study Bible reading plan.
2012 Bible Reading Plan – Download it here
Using the Plan
The ESV Study Bible reading plan offers four sections of reading everyday:
Psalms and Wisdom Literature
Some of the greatest poetry of all time, these books are full of Spirit-inspired wisdom, Godly principles, praise and exultation toward our faithful Creator.
Pentateuch and History of Israel
As we read about God’s covenant with Israel and their constant failure to obey it, we gain perspective on our need for a savior. We also see the origin of salvation through faith in Abraham, and countless records of our Lord’s miraculous power.
Chronicles and Prophets
Amidst the turmoil of Israel’s disobedience, the Prophets emerge as God’s chosen instruments to point us toward our Messiah and the hope of a new and better covenant.
Gospels and Epistles
Jesus. Our Savior destroys the power of sin forever. The early Church is filled with the Holy Spirit. Saul of Tarsus is transformed into Paul the Apostle and chosen by God to embolden us to an obedient life in Christ under the freedom of our faith.

Church doesn’t end just because the worship service is over. “Church” is the body of Christ seeking God’s kingdom, not just an event on Sunday morning. Prayer, service, study and fellowship are important aspects of faith that shouldn’t be restricted to the hour we sit in a pew. That’s what the Table is all about. It’s a private social network, just for our church, that enables us to connect 24/7, not just on Sunday.
Join the Table today: http://bridgelife.tableproject.org
What’s next?
Once you are on the Table, here are five things you can do to get started:
1. Get rid of that default photo and upload your own profile pic. This will help people learn who you are.
2. Fill out the ‘About Me’ section of your profile with your interests, gifts and skills. This will help connect you with others at church.
3. Browse ‘People’ and click over to the map view to find other people from church who live near you.
4. Go to the ‘Prayer Wall’ and pray for a few of the prayer requests. When you click ‘pray now’ the person can be notified that you prayed for them–instant encouragement!
5. Browse ‘Groups’ and join a few. If you don’t see your cell family or a group for your ministry or interest, go ahead and start one.
Need help?
If you need help with the Table we have three ways we can help you out:
1. Look for our genius Table helpers in the lobby after the service.
2. Send a quick note to one of the admins on the table or ask questions on the discussion board.
3. You can also check out the Table’s help section: http://www.tableproject.org/help

Would you like to go on a mission trip to Uganda? How about if Uganda come to us? It is with great excitement that we extend an invitation to youto join Bridge Kids for a very special event! On Easter Sunday evening, April 8th, we will host the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda!
Watoto is thrilled to present a brand new choir tour entitled Beautiful Africa: A New Generation. With vibrant, original African music, dance routines and life-transforming stories, the tour is indicative of the new generation of leaders emerging out of Watoto.
“Through the choir’s Concert of Hope, we share a message of transformation by telling the story of Africa’s rescued orphans and women. We hope to reach out to audiences with the message of Christ’s healing power,” says Gary Skinner, Watoto Founder.
Beautiful Africa: A New Generation will be presented at The Bridge Community Church on Sunday evening, April 8th (Easter). The concert begins at 7 PM. With its genuine appeal, accompanied by music and dance – an energetic fusion of contemporary gospel and traditional African rhythm – the globally acclaimed Watoto Children’s Choir will present of evening of music, movement and testimony. Each of the children in the choir has suffered the loss of one or both parents. They live in Watoto Children’s Villages (Uganda) where they receive the care and nurture they need to grow up as productive citizens of their country.
Watoto Children’s Choir has traveled internationally since 1994 as ambassadors for the millions of children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS, war and poverty. Since its inception, 50 choirs have traveled globally, providing the children with a bigger worldview, an unusual opportunity they would otherwise never get.
Watoto is the Swahili word for ‘children’. It is our hope that children and families throughout our community of churches will gather on this evening for the thrilling experience of another culture as we worship and learn together that our God is mighty…and He loves and cares for all the children of the world.
The concert is free, but we encourage you to bring an offering to support the Watoto ministry. It’s going to be a great evening! See you on April 8th!

The Cross and Suffering
Coming…Good Friday—April 6th
6 PM to Midnight with David Platte
FREE—Dress casual and bring some snacks to share at your table. Childcare NOT provided.
Suffering is a sobering reality in a fallen world. Followers of Christ are not immune to adversity and affliction. On the contrary, there is a real sense in which following Christ means that trials and tribulations are more likely to come our way. As a result, whether walking through sickness, sorrow, pain, or persecution, the questions abound: Why am I suffering? Where is God when I suffer? How can I suffer well? When will my suffering end? How can God be good and allow such evil in the world? How can God be gracious and ordain such suffering in my life? During this Secret Church on Good Friday, we will explore these extremely profound yet deeply personal questions through the lens of Christ’s sufferings on the cross. In the process, we will come to a surprising discovery of how the gospel strengthens, sustains, supports, and ultimately satisfies us in the middle of suffering.
